Teacher Training

Training and mentoring the next generation of yoga teachers has been my pride and joy over the past 10+ years.  I’m currently on the core TT faculty at Yoga Tree in San Francisco, where I also serve as a Mentor in our 500-hour TT program.  Other highlights include Jivamukti Yoga’s 300-hour Teacher Training in Rhinebeck NY (Mentor);  Baptiste Power of Yoga Foundations Study Program (Guest Faculty); Flow Yoga Center (Guest Faculty) and upcoming trainings in Miami, FL and Napa, CA.  I’ve had the opportunity to coach and mentor yogis from around the world — many of whom have already made a splash at Jivamukti Centers and affiliated studios in Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Latvia, Australia, England, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, New York and New Jersey USA. I’ve hosted dozens of senior teachers over the years, and am always excited to share a wide range of talents and points of view within my own yoga communities. Here are TT events lined up for Fall 2017.

Program testimonials

What stood out for me was the way everything we learned in anatomy and alignment came together with what you taught us in assisting. Thank you for your patience and experience and for building on those teachings. The curriculum has deeply touched how I feel what I’m learning in my body and practice.  – Jessica G.

Every time I go out and teach (or do my first attempts, to be honest) I have to think of you and how you supported me and gave me strength to believe in myself. You can’t imagine how important this was and is and will always be. – Heike T.

Dear Jill,  A heartfelt thank you – The week was exhilarating and overfull with information.  I can say for sure that I have grown from the experience.  My 3 public classes this week plus one private session felt transformed.  My skills at assisting in the way you taught are fledgeling but I found myself instantly wanting to employ them.  One key you gave us was to be simple.  Your encouragement to use clear language followed up by touch was spot on and I was relieved to not rush to comment on everything I saw – rather I picked a few key points and got creative with shedding light and hands onto them.  I know that teaching yoga is not about “fixing” people, yet I worry about alignment and tend to be overly cautious so it was great to get simple for a change. Thank you so much for your unwavering focus on us all week.  It was a gift.   – James A.

Jill’s training had an ease and timelessness, and the learning felt completely organic. It consecrated our group and brought us closer together. Watching Jill, we realized what a profound effect we can have teaching our classes, simply by cultivating a compassionate and open environment. We can hold an open space for our student’s personal exploration and healing.Brett G. + Sierra K.

Learning from Jill really opened my eyes to what could go wrong if you don’t have the proper training. From injury to safety there are so many facets than I could have imagined. I feel much more confident in my abilities after completing this training.   – Kristin V.

I am becoming more accepting of myself and my body and have been extending that acceptance and compassion to others. I am also more confident in my own skin.   – Joanne H.

I feel like I have a whole new understanding of my body and others. Learning physical touch brought us closer together, and going through the asanas again and reviewing alignment ( + assisting) helped deepen and given us a much stronger relationship with our practice. We saw the poses through your eyes, which was a wonderful and life changing experience.  – Diana B.
